Another week of fun

Here is Owen enjoying his first sunny day. Thanks to his Nana for his practical and goofy sun hat.

Best friends? Well, maybe eventually. At least Kiwi is making an effort to be friendly. Or maybe Owen smells tasty.

Owen and Uncle Mike! Right after this picture Owen soiled his diaper - making Mike very proud.

Owen meeting his future girlfriend Paisley for the first time. I think you can tell by their body language that they're totally into each other.

Owen has a very large shoe collection. Check out the snazzy kicks. These colourful runners came from Italy via our good friend Brandy! They fit him perfectly.

Gross

This next series requires explanation...

After feeding Owen, I decided to walk around the house while burping him. He let out a loud gurgly sounding burp. I checked his face - clean, I checked the burp cloth - clean. I set him down for a second and walked back into the kitchen and discovered two small puddles on the floor. I couldn't figure out where it came from. And then it dawned on me...his spit-up projected out past my shoulder, got on the back of my sleeve and hit the floor. Then, Kiwi licked it up. (I placed the battery intentionally so you could judge the size of the

puddle.

Week 11

So many Diapers!

Excuse the lack of schedule when it comes to posting on this blog. Even though Owen can entertain himself for longer periods of time lately, I'm choosing to get housework and stuff (Yes, stuff includes wasting time on Facebook) done rather than updating the blog.
So here are the updates since Easter...

Owen went to the doctor for his first immunizations. Andrew and I wished we brought our camera to capture the moment. While we thought we had Owen under control - I was distracting him by feeding him a bottle - Owen screamed bloody murder after the first shot, then with the second shot - he let out an angry wail that let the Doctor know that he wouldn't be falling for it a third time. Its a good thing there were only two needles. Most parents would be feeling lots of empathy for their child in pain...but not Andrew and me. We couldn't stop giggling at how angry Owen was and how intent he was to let the doctor know about it. Yes, we are terrible parents.

The visit to the doctor confirmed what we already knew, that I hadn't just shrunk his clothes in the dryer, but that Owen had gained a significant amount of weight in the last month. Owen weighed in at 10.5 pounds. He's a little guy, but at least he's thriving and proportional.

Owen also is cooing a heck of a lot more. We only wish that he'd choose his coo-time more wisely. The other morning Owen woke us up at 4am, laughing to himself, in the dark, in his cradle. He was awake and having a great time. Now Andrew and I did find this pretty cute, but we would have found it way cuter if he did this at 6am or better yet, 8am.

Nine and a half weeks...Owen update

Family Photo - April 8, 2007

Owen continues to grow and learn everyday. He's holding his neck up for long stretches and he is practicing his laugh. Andrew and I hope that he continues trying on different laughs before settling on one because currently his laugh sounds like sharp inhales just like the main character from "Revenge of the Nerds". Perhaps we should have named him Lewis.

Here are some more pictures from the past week.

2 Months

Sorry for the delay in updating the blog. Time just flies by and finding spare moments to update the blog some days seem impossible. Thankfully, Owen is down for a nap - now here comes the update.

This past week and a bit Owen reached the milestone age of 2 months old. He has been getting more and more interactive. He's starting to "talk" in response to our conversations with him. You can often overhear Andrew repeating to Owen...."Can you say Daddy? Say Daddy..."

He is becoming a good little sleeper too. A normal night now has him sleeping for 4 to 5 hours for one stretch. Of course, after that long stretch of sleep he's ready to party (usually around 4am) but he's pretty good about getting back to sleep for another 1-2 hours as a favour to his mommy. Also, he's starting to enjoy entertaining himself by watching his mobile or using his mini-gymnasium.

On Sunday April 1st, Owen and I attended a wonderful baby shower hosted by Nana Linda. The high chair that everyone contributed to will certainly be put to good use. I was overwhelmed with further gifts for Owen, who is on his way to being very spoiled. So, I extend my whole-hearted thanks and appreciation to everyone that attended or who had planned to attend. Of course, it goes without saying that I am very lucky to have a wonderful mother-in-law to have planned such a great shower. AND a very special thank you to Irene who decorated and facilitated the games and all in all was a great co-host.
